Lịch sử: Tổ chức College Board tạo ra chương trình Advanced Placement (AP) để cung cấp cho học sinh trung học các khoá học và bài thi có mức độ khó của chương trình đại học. Nó quan trong bởi hầu hết các trường đại học tại Mỹ cho phép sinh viên có điểm AP cao đạt được tín chỉ đại học và được miễn học các lớp cơ bản.
Số lượng khoá học: Hiện tại có 35 khoá học AP áp dụng với 20 bộ môn được liệt kê dưới đây theo trang web của College Board:
